Mary Ann meant more to our family than words can express. She was a confidant, healer and very good friend. She let the light of Jesus Christ shine in her life and her faith sustained her. Our shared faith sustains us as we grieve for her presence with us. We look forward to seeing her again one day in heaven.

Sympathies to all her family and to her husband, my cousin Don. I wish I could have met her. They seemed to have a love not all people find. It is hard losing a spouse and, Don, I hope you feel her with you every day. Love, Debbie

My warmest sympathies to you Don and to the entire family. I am blessed to have know both of you. The first time I met Mary Ann at her home for an appt. she said, “You had so much to talk about I thought your were going to fly off my table”. She was a great listener and her love for Jesus shined.

Wow. I’m in shock still. Mary Ann is a very special person to me. I will never forget her generous and loving spirit. She was truly Christlike. I will also never forget teaching Matthew and leading the school choir at his memorial. Mary Ann was one of my best parent volunteers and a great friend. It brings me peace to think she is united with Matthew. I know you must miss her tremendously, Don. I’ll pray for you and the family. She was a precious woman. – Love Marie

Mary Ann and I were friends for many years. We met at IU oh so long ago and spent many hours playing cards, singing songs, and just laughing until our sides hurt. She was a great cook, a computer girl like no other, and a doting mom to her son Matt. “Gruebl'”, I will miss you more than you know but I can’t help but think of you and Matt, hand in hand once again, both of you grinning from ear to ear. A true angel has been called home.

To all of Mary Ann’s family, my sincerest sympathies. I am so sorry for your loss. Mary Ann was one of my dearest friends growing up. We met the summer of 1961 while taking swimming lessons. We started walking home together and so began our friendship. When school started at Holy Angels that fall, we were in the same class. We had the infamous Sister Hortulana. I know you all heard about her and I know she used her in comedy act. Something we shared was our warped sense of humor. We were quite the pair walking together. We looked like Mutt and Jeff. I have so many stories about the crazy things we did. I learned to play pinnochle with her and Ma and Pa Gruebl. We had so much fun. Even though she went to Andrean and I went to Horace Mann, our friendship continued. And while we didn’t see each other very often, she always remained in my heart. I am so sad thinking that she is no longer here with us. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Don we’re so sorry for your loss, for all of us who lost Mary Ange, as I always called her. We were friends since the late 70s, when Mary Ann started working at IU in Bloomington, and we remained friends. We might have lost touch for many years, but when we reconnected it was just like old times. I can still remember her singing and playing the air guitar in her living room here in Bloomington, and what fun we had going to concerts and just hanging out with a large circle of friends here in Bloomington. I’ll always remember her and think of her especially when certain songs play on the radio. It just won’t be the same knowing that she’s not here anymore, and that I won’t be able to hear her pick up the phone and say, Kathy Ange, as she usually called me. She was one of a kind. I miss her. Thanks Don for taking care of her. I know she loved you so much.

When we first met Mary Ann we could see what a sweet and sincere person she was and what a wonderful lady friend for our nephew, Don. We were very happy for their marriage. We send loving prayers to Don and all the family.

The Table of Rebekah, Indianapolis Great Banquet # 11, so enjoyed our time with Mary Ann, and I was pleased to hear through Rev Joyce Hunn that she found love and companionship after the death of her son Matthew. Prayers for all of you.

Mary, I am so sad to not have had the chance to tell you goodbye. If I knew your hospital stay was going to be so serious, I would have run right down to see you and encourage you. You were a joy to know, even if for only a short time. I know you are currently in heaven rejoicing with our Lord and your dear son.
Don, you were a wonderful husband and support to Mary and I keep you in my prayers. Thank you for letting me be a part of your lives.
